Clinical Psychologists are trained to draw on considerable research evidence about the effectiveness of therapy for a wide variety of difficulties. We deliver evidence based psychological treatments and consider the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) guidelines when making recommendations for the approach we will use and the possible length of treatment. It is impossible to say for sure that therapy will help an individual, but the work will be collaborative and can evolve to suit the clients’ needs as necessary. Sometimes a combined approach of medication and therapy will be necessary to best support progress. The Psychologist would want you to discuss with them if you do not feel the therapy is helping. They will want to give you the best help possible, so will be interested in your feedback and make the relevant changes if needed.
