I am passionate about my work in the field of adoption, fostering and looked after children, using attachment and developmental trauma based models.

 I have a broad understanding of the difficulties faced by children and adults who have faced neglect, abuse and adversity during their early years.

I have been involved in a large scale research study and published literature which considers the psychological consequences of early negative experiences upon adults.

I believe strongly in the importance of early intervention, and can offer Psychological Assessment and ongoing therapeutic support and guidance to young people affected by trauma and their caregivers. Direct therapeutic work to families includes Therapeutic Parenting, Attachment Based Family Therapy (DDP – Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy), Therapeutic Life Story Work, EMDR, IPT and CBT models. 

I have considerable experience of working with residential care workers, social workers, teachers, adoptive and foster parents and with individual children who are in care or are adopted. I am able to offer consultation or psychologically informed supervision to individuals or groups working in this field including Video Interaction Guidance, psychologically informed supervision, and reflective practice space.
