Cheshire Psychological Therapy

About Me

I have been working as a qualified Clinical Psychologist for 18 years and before that within mental health teams in the NHS and Community Settings. I am a compassionate therapist and am committed towards providing the highest quality evidence-based practice to the clients I work with. I can provide skilled therapeutic help for a range of mental health problems and emotional difficulties with Adults, Young People, Children and their families.

I have a long term interest in attachment theory and how this impacts on relationships and emotional wellbeing. I have expertise in trauma and its impacts both on complex early relationships and in more acute reactions to traumatic experiences such as PTSD.

I have a specialist interest in working with Women, Parents and in helping early family relationships. I have worked early in my career in research settings where children were born very prematurely and followed their development and that of their families from the NICU until the age of three years. I also worked in the Lifespan Research Group where intergenerational transmission of Depression was a major focus of this longitudinal study and the impact of neglect, antipathy and abuse in childhood upon adult mental health problems was studied. In my NHS roles I have worked for Sure Start Mental Health Teams and Maternal Mental Health and early infant relationships and parenting difficulties were the focus. I have also worked more generally in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Teams (CAMHS) and Adult Mental Health Teams providing a variety of psychological treatments to a range of presenting problems.

Cheshire Psychological Therapy was set up as a service which can provide timely and effective interventions to people or families who are experiencing distress or mental health difficulties. Sessions are held in a confidential and private environment and I can provide a bespoke and compassionate service which aims to help you feel more empowered to make changes and to feel better.

I am a member of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and am Chartered with and an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society (BPS), and a member of the Faculty of Perinatal Psychology (BPS). I am also Accredited with IPTuk and the EMDR Association of UK and Ireland. I am a member of AIMH UK (The Association of Infant Mental Health), accredited by BICA (British Infertility Counselling Association) and the Birth Trauma Association (BTA).
